Self-drive 4x4 routes through the De Wildt Game Park
Three routes on one property — a Green 4x4 Route for standard 4x4s, a Red Extreme Route for experienced drivers, and a Car / Sedan Route for ordinary vehicles.
- What is it?
- A self-drive route system of 10 km, 7.8 km, 4.8 km through the Game Park, with named obstacles.
- Who is it for?
- 4x4 owners wanting a day out, experienced drivers on lifted vehicles, and visitors in ordinary cars who want to see the Game Park.
- Why should I care?
- You can test your vehicle on real bushveld terrain close to Pretoria, then camp or stay over without leaving the property.
- Why De Wildt?
- Routes for three levels of vehicle, plus hiking, fishing, camping and accommodation — so the whole group has something to do.

The routes cross the Game Park, where game roams freely. What you see depends on the animals on the day — sightings are never guaranteed.

What you need to know
- All routes are self-drive and undertaken at the driver's own risk.
- Self-drive — no guide is supplied for the routes.
- Red Extreme Route: aimed at experienced drivers with approximately 2-inch lifted vehicles.
- Facility open 7 days a week, 07h30 – 17h30.
- The property has an electric perimeter fence. On arrival, phone the number displayed at the gate for access.
- Independent specialist 4x4 training is also conducted at De Wildt by training partners.

Which route should I choose?
Green 4x4 Route (10 km): normal / standard 4x4 driving. Red 4x4 Extreme Route (7.8 km): more experienced drivers. Car / Sedan Route (4.8 km): visitors without a 4x4 who want to experience the game park.
Do I need a lifted vehicle?
Only the Red 4x4 Extreme Route is aimed at approximately 2-inch lifted vehicles. The Green Route suits standard 4x4 vehicles, and the Car / Sedan Route suits ordinary cars.
Is the trail guided?
All routes are self-drive and undertaken at the driver's own risk.
Will we see game on the routes?
The routes run through the Game Park, where game roams freely. Sightings are never guaranteed.
Does De Wildt offer 4x4 training?
Independent specialist 4x4 training is also conducted at De Wildt by training partners. Training is arranged with those partners, not as a De Wildt 4x4 service.
